En este momento yo trabajo en UT. Trabajo en uno de los teatros que tiene la Escuela de Teatro. Soy el supervisor técnico de luces y sonidos. Como soy estudiante de la maestría de Diseño de Iluminación pues me dieron ese trabajo. Lo que me toca hacer es diseñar las luces para toda la temporada de obras que se presentan ahí. Y una vez que está diseñado, todos los diseñadores de cada grupo me dicen cuáles son sus necesidades, yo voy tratando de adaptar el plano a lo que ellos necesitan. Entonces las luces funcionan para todas las obras y para cada una en particular. También me encargo de poner los micrófonos, de poner el sonido, de comprar cosas si necesitamos cosas nuevas para el equipo. Entonces ese es mi trabajo.
At the moment I work at UT. I work in one of the theatres that the Theatre School has. I am the technical supervisor of light and sound. Since I’m a Master’s student of Illumination Design they gave me that job. What I have to do is design the lights for this season’s plays that are going to be shown there. Once it’s designed, all the designers from every group tell me what they need, I try to adapt the plan to what they need. So the lights function for all the plays and for every play in particular. I also am in charge of putting the microphones, the sound, to buy the new things that we need for the equipment. So that’s my job.
La primera vez que me monté en un avión iba para Guatemala. Estaba muy ansiosa porque ya varias ocasiones había cancelado viajes. Ya tenía como veinte años. Y ya en el avión estaba muy, muy sorprendida y asustada, y no podía dejar de pensar en mi hermana que en esos momentos tenía seis años porque la experiencia me parecía increíble. Me sentía como una chiquita. No podía dejar de ver por la ventana. Y eso fue como lo más, lo que… como me sorprendió fue cómo se veía todo. Si es un poco incómodo. Y luego hubo turbulencias, entonces era bastante… bastante nerviosa estaba. Eso es.
The first time that I was in an airplane I was going to Guatemala. I was very nervous because I had already cancelled trips on previous occasions. I was already twenty years old or so. And when I was on the plane I was very, very surprised and afraid, and I could stop thinking about my sister that was six at the time because the experience seemed incredible. I felt like a little girl. I could stop looking out the window. And that was like the most, what…how I was surprised was how it all looked. It is a little uncomfortable. And later there was turbulence, then I was very…very nervous. That’s it.
Hace un tiempo fue mi primer choque automovilístico, más o menos hace como diez años. Fue el único que tuve. Yo venía en mi auto con unas amigas y otro auto se atravesó justo delante nuestro. Y alcancé a frenar pero no completamente. Entonces toqué un poco al otro auto que estaba detenido completamente en el medio de la calle y bueno, mi auto no…poco se hizo, casi nada y ninguna de mis amigas tampoco. Gracias a dios ni yo ni nadie. Salimos todos ilesos, sin ningún…nada.
Some time ago I had my first automobile accident, it was about ten years ago. It is the only one that I've had. I was going along in my car with some friends and the other car crossed just in front of ours. I hit the breaks but couldn't stop completely. So I kind of hit the other car that was totally stopped in the middle of the street and well, my car didn't, didn't get much damage, almost nothing and none of my friends either. Fortunately neither I or anybody else. We all came out unharmed, without any... nothing.
