Many Spanish words are written and pronounced in a similar way to English words. These words are called cognates.
¿Le gusta el apartamento?
Do you like the apartment? Yo estoy en el hotel.
I am in the hotel. El aeropuerto está lejos.
The airport is far. Ellos ven el mapa.
They look at the map. Yo soy operador.
I am an operator.
Me gusta comer tomates.
I like to eat tomatoes. La sandía está deliciosa.
The watermelon is delicious. Yo vengo al hospital.
I come to the hospital. Mi suegro es doctor.
My father-in-law is a doctor.
