Adverbs modify a verb, an adjective or another adverb. Affirmative, negative and doubt adverbs imply affirmation, denial or doubt.
Let's review some examples:
affirmative
Sí puedo, pero primero debo llamar a mi casa.
Yes I can, but first I must call home. Es cierto que llueve mucho en esta ciudad.
It is true that it rains a lot in this city. Ellas también aman los animales.
They love the animals, too.
negative
Yo di mi palabra y no voy a ser candidata.
I gave my word, and I'm not going to be a candidate. No voy a traer ni refrescos ni sándwiches para nadie.
I am not going to bring neither drinks nor sandwiches for anybody. Tampoco podré comer contigo.
I won't be able to eat with you either.
doubt
Quizás si no existiera el petróleo viviríamos ahora más tranquilos.
Perhaps if petroleum would not exist we would live more peacefully. Tal vez lo tiré sin darme cuenta.
Maybe I threw it away without noticing. Cuando cierres el libro, fíjate bien donde lo pones por si acaso.
When you close the book, pay attention to where you place it, just in case.
