When I arrived, I needed some time to adjust to the culture. Now I am appreciating this experience very much.
Evaluation from ucanderson:
You speak the language quickly when it is the only means of communication between you and the other students.
Evaluation from gabriela999999:
I stayed for 1 month at this school and had a great time. The teachers are fantastic and help you with anything you might need. The lessons are really professional so I learned to speak Spanish pretty well in only 1 month. They adjust the program to your needs (travelling, language tests, etc.) As Manta isn't touristy at all you'll have no choice but to practice your Spanish. Really good value!! I would highly recommend this school.
Evaluation from pkehrli:
This is an excellent school with very good teachers. The director, Manuel Buchelli, goes above and beyond to make your experience excellent. He is also helpful with planning any other school experiences or tours or whatever you need. The home stay was also very good. I give this school my highest recommendation.
Evaluation from razzigirl:
In comparison to other schools, this school is excellent, but on its own, it's not too great. The curriculum is okay if you're a beginner or early intermediate. The accommodations are horrible, this includes host families and student apartment. You're better off arriving early and finding your own place. There is nothing to do in Manta except got to the beach. Manuel is very nice and so are the teachers. The school should be more organized and evaluate the students more properly though.
Evaluation from j3delp:
We really enjoyed our time with Surpacifico and really enjoyed Manta. That's why overall the rating isn't too bad. Everyone at the school is very, very nice also. The problem we had is that we were only coming in for 1 week of classes. We have another school, Simon Bolivar, in Quito that we really like. Unfortunately, we were never evaluated for what level of Spanish we were at or never even asked. It seems as though that since there were two of us and since we were the outsiders that they decided to stick us in a group with one of their regulars to learn what she was learning for the week. For one of us, that was ok because that's where I was at. But for my wife, this didn't work very well at all. If Surpacifico had a feedback program, I would be saying this on their comment form but they do not so that's why I am sharing this. Unfortunately, I can't recommend Surpacifico unless you are planning on being there long term.
