Evaluation from michal:
i warmly recommend this spanish school. great teachers, great atmosphere, great activities. i have learned a lot during almost a month and the language i speak today is only thanks to this school, which gave me the best base to start from. the whole experience of studying spanish plus living with a local family was great, and i will never forget it.
Evaluation from Johana:
It was one of the major highlights of my experience in Guatemala. I learned a lot more at this school than Spanish grammar. I had a much more holistic education than I ever expected. There is a level of social consciousness among this skilled group of teachers that has a lot to offer students who are interested in really understanding the history and lives of people in Guatemala.
Evaluation from samwechsler:
Excellent school with high-quality teaching and no gimmicks.
Evaluation from deniz:
It is a very friendly school and the tutors are kind and well prepared. They are extremely unspoiled and precious and that willing to give the real perspective of Guatemalan social life. They can provide any kind of assistance for your special needs. Don't even hesitate to take the classes at the lovely scenery wieving the volcanoe. Just dont miss it.
Evaluation from jim:
What an experience I had at Educaccion Para Todos! The teachers are well-trained and have in general a terrific sense of humor. They enjoy their work and love to see students succeed. The cultural information far exceeded my expectations. I hope to get back soon.
Evaluation from dmattina:
I highly recommend Educacion para todos. The teachers are warm, wonderful, and very willing to tailor classes for a student's needs and interests. They are very open and answered as many questions as you would want to ask. The activities that are planned and opportunities to do things with other students are great. I learned a lot at the school, both from classes and from living with a family. I hope to return for more classes as studying at Educacion para todos was a great experience.
Evaluation from evaa3:
I recommend this school to anyone that is planning on studying Spanish in Xela. The experience that I had during my short stay at "Eduacacion para todos" far exceeded my expectations. It was as much a cultural and social experience as a language learning experience. the teachers there are all socially conscious and inteligent people that not only are excellent teachers but they also love to inform and educate us on all other aspects of Guatemala, its culture, history, politics, people and their struggles. I sincerely wish that some day I get a chance to go back there again.
Evaluation from vynguyen:
I really recommend Educacion para Todos to those serious about learning Spanish. Compared to other schools I saw, this one tends to draw students who have a genuine interest in studying the language, as well as the culture and history of Guatemala, while many other schools had more of a young partying culture. The instructors are warm, generous, funny, experienced, and also committed to social justice. Studying at Educacion para Todos was one of the most memorable and productive experiences of my life!
Evaluation from Kathy:
I had a great time here for three weeks last summer. The classes were interesting and enjoyable and I learned so much each day. While most of the students were 20-something, those of us who were older felt right at home, too. This school has a passion for teaching about the culture and history of Guatemala. The teachers are very skilled and have a real social consciousness. We had good speakers, cultural events, excursions, movies, daily activities, great home stays close to the school. I loved my host family. There was also opportunity for volunteer work. I highly recommend this school.
Evaluation from heberbeach:
my three weeks at educacion para todos holds one of my greatest travel memory and experience. the staff met me where i was in my language learning and brought me into a greater knowledge and confidence of speaking. (I am almost fluent now). I stayed with two families and was treated to authentic food, song, shopping, warm family living as well as a little touring of the countryside. I made friends with whom i am still in contact. Mario and Oscar shared cultural, political and social issues with their students while at the same time, listened to social issues from the countries of their students. I felt I learned more than just a language. Bravo to Educacion Para Todos. I heartily recommend it.
Evaluation from susefogt:
I highly enjoyed my time with Educacion para Todos (EPT). EPT is a simple and friendly environment. Having also studied in Antigua, I found EPT much more structured and engaging. The teachers were all patient and friendly, and accurately assessed my level on the first day. After that we worked on both grammer and conversation. I also enjoyed EPT's location in Zona 3, a little further away from Parque Central. This allowed me to explore other neighborhoods in Xela where I was frequently the only foreigner, and practice my language skills. While EPT may not have all the bells and whistles of other schools in the area, the instruction and personal attention are top rate!
Evaluation from melissa:
If you go to Xela, I would strongly recommend Spanish School Educacion Para Todos for anyone who desires to learn and improve their Spanish in an engaging, friendly, and dynamic learning environment. I had a fabulous experience at the school and they set me up with a lovely Guatemalan host family. My teachers were able to assess my abilities from day one and put me on the correct grammar track. Classes were never tedious and I feel like my Spanish skills improve significantly. The teachers are very socially and politically conscious – they are willing to engage in discussion with their students about various topics in Guatemala. The school plans various optional outings, activities, and film showings to educate the students about Guatemalan history, politics, and culture. There are also opportunities for volunteer work. The experience is as holistic and engaging as you want it to be. The teachers are very helpful and caring towards their students, and I always felt incredibly welcomed in the school. I also liked the fact that the school is located in Zona 3, a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of Parque Central and the plethora of language schools that surround it. I feel like I had a very authentic experience in Guatemala, mostly due to the fact that I studied with Educacion Para Todos.
Evaluation from erikafischli:
In spring 2011 I decided to improve my knowledge in spanish. After writing to different spanish schools in Guatemala, „Educación Para Todos“ sent me loads of information about them and their education system. I arrived in Guatemala city on a Sunday of July 2011 after flying all the way from Switzerland, had a comfortable busride to Quetzaltenango (Xela) organized from the school „Educación Para Todos“ and was safely taken to my host family through Mario, the director of the school. Thinking back of these three weeks in Guatemala I never gained such different experience in my life: · getting acquainted to bus rides, which really is adventurous in Guatemala · having made many friends, students also attending „Educación Para Todos“ · strolling through Xela, a beautiful town situated between green hills and an impressing volcano nearby · exploring the country side of Guatemala on weekends, such as lago Attitlan and the ancient town of Antigua · and last but not least getting the most professional education of spanish classes from my teacher Mario at „Educación Para Todos“ When I returned home to Switzerland I was certain that this wasn't my last visit to Guatemala and I am looking forward to another exciting trip to this beautiful country. Erika, a Swiss student at „Educación Para Todos“ in Quetzaltenango
Evaluation from beckyp:
I have spent the past 4 weeks studying at Educacion para Todos in Quetzeltenango with my husband. My original reason for choosing this school was that they were very informative and professional both on their website and in my constant questions before leaving the UK. They were also happy to tailor make the course according to our needs. The experience at the school has exceeded our expectations. My husband and I both have very different levels of Spanish and the school has tailor made the tuition according to our ability and our future needs. They have also introduced us to Voluntary work that has enabled us to be fully immersed in the community and enabled us to form some good friendships with Guatemaltecos rather than just Gringoes!! We have also been impressed with the amount of extra corricular actrivites made available to us, from film evenings, to trips to Mayan ruins, to International dinners to share with students and teachers alike our different customs and ideas. Although my intention was to come to Guatemala to learn Spanish, we have learnt so much more. We have learnt about the history, the geography, the culture both historically and contemporary, something I did not expect before coming here.
Evaluation from WendyB:
I studied at EPT for one month in 2012. Everything about the experience was great. I learned more Spanish than I'd expected, and the teachers were very willing to explore any particular points of grammar or topics of conversation that I wanted. I always felt like the focus was on learning excellent Spanish. Whether in class or on trips, the teachers continued teaching and were very knowledgeable about the language and culture. My homestay placement was successful, too. I recommend this school to anyone.
Evaluation from chasgribbs:
Certainly not a bad place to start out language learning for the serious learner. Heavy on grammar and more or less "old school" in terms of methodology. (Don't look for the Total Physical Response methodology or TPR Storytelling for example.) There is no use of black board or white board which I, as a language teacher, can't do without. An abundance of writing on blank sheets of paper. The one to one attention is excellent and the staff impressed me as very qualified in my 5 weeks there. I've been around education and training programs for much of my life and have become convinced in the value of doing periodic progress evaluation on the one hand and gathering afterwards feedback on the other. It struck me as strange that I was never given a "here's how you're doing" while a student and never asked for any feedback on my experience at the end. Even so, these are good and committed people and my family homestay was great.
Evaluation from eb256:
I had studied a few languages abroad before studying at EPT, but I was amazed at the consistency of the quality that their teachers delivered day after day. I was there two months, and even though I was working on relatively advanced material, the staff always provided me with something new and useful to examine. The classes themselves at EPT were some of the most professional I had received. The place is small, friendly, and I observed that it could satisfy everyone's level and needs. For all this I highly recommend it.
Evaluation from juanw:
This is a is poorly managed school. The teachers are are untrained and not professional. The building is in bad shape. The neighborhood is very dangerous.
Evaluation from AllyGS:
If you want to learn Spanish, have a good time, and make lasting friendships then Educacion Para Todos is for you. (It's also the best school in Xela). I spent five months at this school. I also researched every school in Xela for six months beforehand. I had taken Spanish classes for years and was not able to learn. The teachers were exceptional: patient, dedicated, knowledgeable, and funny. They made learning Spanish possible. The best part of the school is that it feels small and is still "authentic." Many of the other schools are extremely large and commercialized. Educacion Para Todos is located in a nice, safe neighborhood minutes from the town's center. The school's smaller feel allows teachers to give you more individualized attention--be it learning more Spanish, history, culture or the best place to buy those items you forgot to pack. My experience at Educacion Para Todos changed my life. It seems that the experience I had at EPT was unique to that school, having compared my learning and overall experience to many other students in Xela and other language programs abroad. I am extremely fortunate that I chose Educacion Para Todos. The friendships I made with the teachers, and the level of fluency I reached because of the teachers is an experience that continues to have a positive affect in my daily life.
Evaluation from kunbi85:
The teachers are very good, this is one of the cheapest program in Xela. The school building is not 5 stars but okay. The staff are very helpful and the students are awesome. I had fun there
Evaluation from mark123:
I was really disappointed with this school. The facilities were terrible and the teachers were not very interested in the students. I was in a homestay with other students who were going to different language schools which FAR exceeded Educacation para Todos. I even went on a trip with another school (with one of the other homestay students) as Educaction para Todos never organised any trips despite promising trips. There are Far better schools in Xela.
Evaluation from emmarigby:
I cannot recommend this school highly enough. The teachers are experts. They took me from a very basic level to conversational level in five weeks. The course was extremely organised, very comprehensive and I enjoyed every second. The teachers were very knowledgeable about teaching the language and providing an insight into Guatemala This is the best school I have been to. The extra activities were fascinating and the accomodation was great. Everyone at the school went out of their way to make me feel safe and welcome. I was travelling on my own and had an instant family of students and teachers. I would not hesitate to go back and I hope one day I can. Emma
Evaluation from linseamccoy:
The teachers at EPT were all really wonderful and caring. Our family stayed in Xela for 5 weeks, and we all learned a lot about the language and the culture. There were some fantastic field trips like to the local cemetary, Santa Anita fair trade coffee cooperative, and the beautiful Fuentes Georginas. For me, it was a dream come true and I'll always cherish those memories.
