When I arrived in Nicaragua I essentially spoke no Spanish. Now, after only three months at the school, I can understand and carry on a conversation easily. The gramatical aspects of the classes are very thourough and the teachers are very focused on the progress of the student. The entire staff of the school is so helpful and accomodating to the needs of the students and I have loved getting to know them. I completely enjoyed my time here, and I highly recommend GSL.

I learnt more than I expected I entered the BASIC program- advanced level- of this school - and I didn´t regret it.It´s uno a uno, one teacher one student, that´s unbeatable. The teachers are all very committed, correct all your mistakes and are very experienced.At the end of every week you are assessed, so you know about the progress you´ve made.The program included actividades´in the afternoon'- just fabulous. You are shown all the attractions nearby- isletas, Masaya , Catarina, the laguna de apoya and others, and they are all free! And the staff, especially the secretary, were very helpful and amiable.And I was lodged in a local family, which allowed me to practise what I had learnt in the morning in the evening in a naural environment.So I can really recommend that school. In two months I went from not being able to understand the immigration officer was asking me for five dollars to working in the countryside of Nicaragua where no one speaks any English except me. My homestay experience was excellent and the activities were always good (although I was never especially gifted at dance...). The program allowed me to learn not only Spanish, but also about Nicaraguan culture and life. My teacher was excellent and the other teachers were all interesting to talk with and excited to help students learn everything about Nicaragua, from food to politics, country life to culture. I was very pleased with everything and would recommend this program to anyone who wanted to learn Spanish and experience life in Nicaragua.
