Evaluation from cdelalande:
I had an excellent time at this school. As I am fluent in Spanish because I teach Spanish I didn't really language teaching. But my teachers allow me to discover Ecuatorian cdifferent cultures. They took me to places where tourist never go. The atmosphere is very friendly and although I am in my fifties I enjoyed sharing time with international young people. Due to the energy and profesionalism of teachers and administration I keep an excellent memory of my stay in Quito.
Evaluation from deng1506:
When I first arrived at the school, all I could say in Spanish was ¡Hola!, but after nearly three months there, I was speaking Spanish better than I could ever have expected. Highly recommended, with dedicated and competent teachers and friendly host families and staff, and it's all located in a vibrant urban environment surrounded by beautiful mountains.
Evaluation from andy78:
I attended this school from September 2010 to December 2010 and thoroughly enjoyed my experiences there. The school itself was small with, at any time, only a few students attending the school while I was there. I found the low student number to be very pleasant since it allowed close interaction with other professors which provided a very social atmosphere that emphasized the use of Spanish. The school also arranged weekly activities such as field trips in and around Quito, cooking classes, and games. Overall I was very impressed with the effort my professors and the school made to help me learn and develop my Spanish. While I was there I stayed with a family (arranged by the school) who tried to make me as much a part of their family as they could. Overall, my experience was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this school to anyone interested in learning Spanish. I intend on furthering my Spanish and would love to be able to return to this school.

Evaluation from saskiavo:
I want to thank AGS for everything. I learned so much, of course Spanish but as well a lot about Ecuadorian culture and habits. The teachers did a lot of extra programm with us and were so open hearted and friendly. I enjoyed every day I could spend at AGS and I am sure that I come back. With every problem I had, I could come to AGS staff and they helped me as much as they could. By treating me more a family member or a friend they made my trip to Ecuador unforgettable. AGS is located at the heart of the city. Everything you need is very close and easy to get to....THANX for everything!!! Saskia Vogel, Österreich
Evaluation from scottallan:
AGS has some real postives and some, relatively minor, negatives. It won't be the right school for everyone, especially students looking for a highly social experience. The one to one classes are excellent and an excellent value for the money. However, there was not sufficient diagnostic testing either prior to arriving in Quito or during the first day of class. I spent 2-3 days (10-12 hours of class) waiting for my teacher to feel out where to go with me, when I believe some of this could have been accomplished by better diagnostic testing and a directed interview in Spanish. Also, the administration of the school didn't seem to communicate anything at all to the teachers regarding the background and/or the desires of the students prior to the first day of class...again, with just adequate diagnostic testing and interviews, students and teachers could hit the ground running, particularly important for students studying for less than a month. The school "teaching" activities, such as cooking classes, were disorganized and unfocused. Because of the individual classes, there wasn't much bonding between students -- if some of the group teaching activities, like the cooking classes, had been more orgainized and more consistent, this would have helped that aspect of the experience. Our homestay family was terrific and they spent a lot of time interacting with us in Spanish. However, they were new to having students in their home, and there were some minor issues the school needs to clarify with them regarding what needs to be provided. Other students seemed to be happy with their homestay situations and, generally, the school seems to do a good job with this aspect of things. It is also important to note that AGS is located in a fairly residential area about 20 minutes (by bus) to either Old or New Town -- the most touristed areas in Quito -- while this wasn't a problem for either my wife or myself, it may be an issue for younger students looking for more night life -- or students that have a problem using public transportation. Overall, I would recommend AGS to students who can be assertive with their teachers in establishing a focus for their studies and who are not looking for a particularly social/communal experience with other students and/or the experience of being in the thick of the city at all times. Once students do establish a rapport with their teachers, they will receive excellent instruction for a great price.
Evaluation from Laura_Carter:
As I decided to major in Latin American Fields I decided to study Spanish in Ecuador, when I first arrived in Quito, I went looking for Spanish schools on my own but after a while I got very disappointed because I couldn’t find any school that gave me a proper DELE preparation until I finally found AGS, at first I thought it was going to be just like the others but then I had to take a DELE Mock exam, and it helped me a lot to figure out how the exam was going to be, so I stayed in Quito for 3 months and learned everything I could, I think that this method of weekly MOCk exams was very useful and just what I needed, so when I finally took my DELE exam I wasn’t nervous at all. What I loved about this school is the patience that most of the teachers had with me and the fact that all the school’s staff were interested on how was I doing and such, which I didn’t found on my previous schools. This is why I recommend AGS for all those who want to be fully prepared for DELE best wishes Laura

I really enjoyed going to this school everyday. I love the atmosphere of the school, teachers were all friendly. I met many great friends from other countries and it made it a lot better. I think cooking class, salsa class, and playing soccer those activities are well organized and it's been great to get involved. Ecuador it's been one of awesome countries I've been, people is so open, friendly all the places are beautiful. I wish I could stay longer in Ecuador for learning Spanish and visiting othe places where I haven't been. I love AGS Ecuador, really have to come back again!!

As a sports player I’m always moving and in constant activity, that’s why I decided to take my vacations in places very different from my country. I found the AGS on the Internet and it was everything I wanted from the beginning. I took lessons every day and traveled on weekends on trips organized by the school. I tried new sports like rafting, canopy, kayaking, and the experiences were awesome.

My name is Lauren, I am a medical student and I went to Quito on December of 2010, I participated on the medical program at Andean Global Studies, and until now is the best program I’ve ever been. The Staff in AGS is very helpful and the teachers always find the most interesting ways to link the Spanish lessons to medical vocabulary and exercises, after my first two weeks of just Spanish classes I had my medical observations at Hospital Militar, I got to be on a surgery and it was awesome! The medical coordinator of the school arranged everything about my medical observations and everyone at the hospital was really friendly. I definitely recommend this program to anyone who is interested on getting the best value for your money, I would say without hesitation it was money well spent.
